Poor consent compliance by Councils, research shows

Compliance with resource consents by City and District Councils is poor, a survey of asset managers has found.

The survey was conducted by Shattock Communications & Research Ltd for CS-VUE™'s developers, the Resource Management Technology Group Ltd.

Interviewers contacted senior asset managers at City and District Councils and consent compliance managers at Regional Councils. More than 48% of Councils participated in the research.

Key survey results:

  • Asset managers acknowledge their Councils' poor level of consent compliance (Asset managers acknowledge poor compliance)
  • Many councils lack resources and have only basic tools to manage consent and compliance information (Many councils use only basic tools)
  • Views differ between City and District Council asset managers, and Regional Council compliance managers (Compliance managers take different view)
  • Regional councils plan greater emphasis on auditing local body consent compliance (Regional councils plan compliance audits)
